Although Bayswater-Morley’s aspirations of a finals appearance in the WACA First-Grade pennant season have effectively disappeared, interest will be retained in the performances of a budding young group of teenage rookie players when given the opportunity to display their talent at the senior level. During the first day of the Round 9 clash with Perth at Fletcher Park on Saturday, the Bears batted on a good pitch, but in conditions which heavily favoured seam bowling. The Perth pace trio of Daniel Townend, James Benning, and veteran Paul Keenan created early havoc to the Bayswater top-order, having them on their Knees at 5-60 at lunch. Write Comment (0 Comments) |

Success for Bayswater-Morley in WACA pennant grade cricket this season may be modest so far, but it would appear that better times are not far away. About ten years ago, a group of dedicated people at Subiaco-Floreat restructured and nurtured the junior teams of the club with extraordinary success, winning many junior titles. The talent that emerged from this intense commitment translated into three consecutive First-Grade pennants from 2001-2003 and two Club Championships in those years. A similar group of tireless coaches and administrators at Bayswater-Morley are reaping the benefits of intensive guidance and talent identification in developing a vast wealth of junior talent unprecedented in the Club’s history.Write Comment (0 Comments) |

The fragility of the Bayswater-Morley batting was once again on display at Hillcrest Reserve on Saturday during the first day of the WACA first-grade pennant match against Subiaco-Floreat. With the first use of a track which seemed to have little more bounce and carry than usual, the Bears top order failed to flatter and they were progressively dismissed to be all out for 169 early in the evening session. Only Matthew Birrell, with a stolid 44 compiled over 113 minutes at the top of the order, could be said to have succeeded.Write Comment (0 Comments) |

Bayswater-Morley failed in the attempt to reel in the formidable total of 315 set by Gosnells in their WACA first-grade pennant clash at Sutherlands Park on Saturday. Resuming at 2-33 at the opening of the second day, Bayswater lost the vital wicket of in-form opener Liam Davis for 24 after the addition of only one run. Rhys May and night-watchman Grant Thistle added 42 for the next wicket , but when May badly mistimed a hook shot and was caught for 24 with the score at 4-76, the cause appeared to be lost.Write Comment (0 Comments) |

The first day’s play of the WACA First-Grade pennant match between Bayswater- Morley and Gosnells at Sutherlands Park on Saturday was one full of drama and two outstanding individual performances. Batting first on a hard and flat track in ideal conditions, the Gosnells top-order steadily built a team innings of commanding proportions. The loss of the first wicket at eleven, brought visiting Lancashire professional Simon Marshall to the crease. Marshall, who had recorded an unbeaten century in the previous match, went about building increasingly solid partnerships of 45 with Darryl Kipping, 90 with Stephen Mason, and 138 with Justin Gauder. Bayswater-Morley tasted both victory and defeat in an eventful weekend of WACA first-grade pennant cricket at Hillcrest Reserve. On Saturday, visitors South Perth resumed at a vulnerable 5/42 in pursuit of the Bears modest first innings total of 164, and capitulated in orderly fashion to be dismissed for only 103. Michael Thistle, recapturing the form which saw him represent Western Australia a couple of seasons back, destroyed the top-order with the fine figures of 5/41 from 14 overs. Only Leif Powis with 28 and Chris Thompson [31] made any notable contribution.Write Comment (0 Comments) |

Bayswater-Morley found themselves in an unexpectedly sound position at the end of the first day of their Round 2 WACA First-Grade Pennant clash with South Perth on Saturday. Being sent in on the first morning at Hillcrest can be a daunting task, and so it proved to be for the Bear's top-order.Write Comment (0 Comments) |

Welcome to season 2007-08. Please find below the Pre-Season programme, you will note that for the majority the programme starts later than has been the case in previous seasons. We are using the Indoor nets at Revolution for the month leading up to the start of the season to ensure that what seems to be traditionally poor weather in September does not impact on our ability to get a hit in. There is also little impact on weekends prior to the season getting underway. Read on for details about the sessions......

Bayswater-Morley have captured the WACA Under-Seventeen premiership by defeating Joondalup at Richardson Park at the weekend. Joondalup, the minor premiers, batted first and were soon in trouble when they lost four wickets for only 32, but battled admirably to recover the situation before being dismissed for a respectable 186. Vinay Chavda [2-22] and Dan Puren [2-21] were the most productive of a evenly potent Bears attack.Write Comment (0 Comments) |

Bayswater-Morley have progressed to the WACA Under-Seventeen Grand Final with a resounding victory over local rivals Mount Lawley in their semi-final clash at Breckler Park on Saturday. The young Bears batted first and posted a formidable 5/293 in their allotted 60 overs. The innings was highlighted by what proved to be a match-winning partnership by opener Aaron Todd, who scored 135, and Philip Adams, who made 75. Write Comment (0 Comments) |
