Bayswater-Morley have ended the WACA pennant cricket season on a high note by winning the Fourth Grade premiership in defeating hot favorites Melville at Breckler Park on Sunday.  Melville were the minor premiers, completing the home-and-away season without losing a game, but were no match for the Bears in the rain-shortened Grand Final.

No play was possible on the soggy centre square surrounds on Saturday, and the match was re-scheduled as a 45 overs per side shoot-out on Sunday.  With the conditions ideal, Bayswater elected to bat and compiled a formidable total of 7-209 before the compulsory closure.  Opener Michael Warwick, in a Man-Of-The-Match winning performance, made a fine 43, and was ably complemented by skipper Brett Dellar [35], and Matt Edwards[33].

In reply Melville lost both openers with only 4 runs on the board when they slumped further to 4-24, were never likely to reach the target and eventually capitulated to be all out for 86 in the thirtieth over.  Jon Arnott snared three wickets and Matt Utley and Andrew Durnin two apiece.  The win underlined a fine season for the club and complements the Under-Fifteen Pennant success of last week.
