To All Players

Welcome to the 2006-07season.  The successes of last season are now consigned to history and the task at hand is to best prepare ourselves for the challenges which will come our way over the next eight months.

At the time of writing the most significant change to our coaching structure......

... is the addition of Steve Philippe to our group.  Steve is a former First Grade batsman and he also has outstanding credentials as a coach and administrator.  Steve is currently the Western Fury Coach and Director of Cricket at Guildford Grammar School.  Steve also headed the WACA Coaching Department prior to joining Guildford Grammar.  Steve will be working in a part-time capacity in the area of developing our batting strength throughout the Club.

The Pre-Season programme (now on the website) is attached and some of the features are as follows.  Due to a large number of players participating in winter sports there is little weekend commitment through August.  We will again be utilizing the Revolution Indoor Centre and concentrating on skills based development.  September sees us move to Hillcrest but still maintain a connection with the Indoor Centre as the weather can be unpredictable at this time of year.

If you are one of the few players not actively playing sport over winter it is your responsibility to present yourself in the best physical condition  which will allow you to compete for a position within the four grades.

Please note that for any outdoor sessions you should include spikes.  Training strip is to be worn as per usual standards (if you do not have training gear please wear whites).  Also ensure you bring a drink bottle to each session.

If you have ongoing commitments which prevent you from training regularly over this period please let me know as soon as possible.  Also please note that training is never cancelled, there may be variances to the programme due to the weather, however when training is scheduled it is on.

Regards

David  Baird - Coach
