Round 6
Under 17's
Vagaries of a turf wicket is a part of the challenge of the game but the Under 17’s bad luck with weather and wickets wasn’t helped by an umpiring decision to abandon play on a lively wicket. At the time Perth were staggering at 3 for 9. When played recommenced on Day 2, the Bayswater bowlers continued the demolition job. Brayden Dempster (4/17), Cody Wilson (3/25) and Peter Baker (2/7) were always threatening as Perth crawled to 95 from 50 overs leaving Bayswater just fifteen overs to take first innings points. In an exciting run chase, Josh Keys (30* from 25 balls) and Rhys Hampson (19 from 14) were outstanding as batsmen sacrificed their wickets to snatch an unlikely but well deserved win.
Under 15’s
It doesn’t matter how well you bowl if catches are dropped. This was the case when the 15’s took on bottom side Perth at Fletcher Park. And while the Bayswater catching was sub par they did managed to pick up three run outs. Left arm spinner, Mason Coad was the chief victim of fielding lapses as Perth declared at 8 for 198. That score proved out of reach as Jack Seward (19), Chad Prichard (17), Louis Ray (17) and Hershelle Classen (18) got starts but weren’t able to go on. Only quality all rounder Alex Di Placido looked in control. When he was bowled for 42 from 65 balls the innings folded for 147.
