Men’s First Grade: Superb Todd and Russo Lead Bears to Round One Victory

What a way to start the season at Hillcrest Park! Bayswater-Morley’s First Grade secured a fantastic 42-run victory over Mount Lawley in Round One. Batting first, the Bears set an imposing total of 6/264 from their 50 overs. Mitchell Todd anchored the innings beautifully with a brilliant 92 off 120 balls, well supported by Lane Berry’s rapid 58 off 56 and Ryleigh Cameron’s handy 46. Cameron Todd also chipped in with 25 not out. In reply, Mount Lawley fought hard to reach 9/222 off 46.1 overs, led by Darius D’Silva’s 80. However, Matt Russo was the star with the ball, tearing through the opposition to claim superb figures of 5/52 from 9.1 overs. Jack Wasley also contributed with 2/34 to ensure a perfect start to the summer.

Men’s Second Grade: Bears Secure Perfect Start with Convincing Six-Wicket Win

What a start to the season for our Men’s Second Grade! Playing at Breckler Park, the Bears put on a fantastic display to secure a convincing six-wicket victory over Mount Lawley in Round 1. Bowling first, we restricted the visitors to 140 all out. Adrian McKinlay was the star with the ball, tearing through the lineup to claim 4/35, well supported by Callum O’Connor (2/21) and Louis Clayton (1/27). Our chase was clinical, reaching the target in the 34th over at 4/141. Louis Clayton led the charge with a brisk 41, while Connor Dimech (31) and Kieran Abrams (27 not out) showed great composure to secure the points. A brilliant team effort to kick off the summer!

Men’s Third Grade: Bowlers Shine Despite Round One Slip Against Mount Lawley

v Mount Lawley — Mount Lawley won by 82 runs

Our Men’s Third Grade side kicked off their season at Hillcrest Park against Mount Lawley. Bowling first, the Bears put on a fantastic display with the ball to dismiss the visitors for 174. Cooper Hanrahan led the way with a superb 3/22, while Ryan Skett (3/28) and Jack Zagar (3/33) also claimed three wickets each in a disciplined bowling performance. Unfortunately, the chase didn’t go to plan, with our batters dismissed for 92. Thomas Cross fought hard at the top with a resilient 33, and Jack Zagar capped off a great all-round game with 25. While it wasn’t the result we wanted to start the season, the fight shown by our bowlers gives us plenty of positives to build on.

Men’s Fourth Grade: Big Efforts from Patel and Attwood in Season Opener

v Mount Lawley — Mount Lawley won by 167 runs

Our Fourth Grade lads kicked off the season at Breckler Park against Mount Lawley. The visitors set a tough chase, finishing on 5/265 from their 45 overs, with Callum Westwood scoring a century. Brind Patel was the pick of our bowlers, fighting hard to claim excellent figures of 3/48 from his nine overs, while Jayden Thistle also bowled tight to take 1/25. In reply, our batting innings faced a tough challenge against a strong Mount Lawley attack, ending on 98. William Attwood showed great determination to top-score with 29 off 57 balls, while Thistle contributed 18 and Patel remained unbeaten on 13. While it wasn’t our day, the fighting spirit shown by our best players gives us plenty of positives to build on for the season ahead!

Graham McKenzie Shield (Male Under 14s): Bayswater-Morley Claim Big Round One Win at Hillcrest Park

v Wanneroo — Bayswater-Morley won by 71 runs

Bayswater-Morley’s Graham McKenzie Shield campaign got off to a perfect start with a fantastic 71-run victory over Wanneroo at Hillcrest Park. Batting first, our side put on an impressive display to reach 7/220 from their 50 overs. Dev Thakkar led the charge with a brilliant 72 off 88 balls, well supported by Jaxen Durkin’s 34 and Shaurya Mishra’s 21, while Jacob Heyes added an unbeaten 18. In reply, Wanneroo were restricted to 9/149 from their 50 overs. Our bowlers kept it tight, with Viyaan Varun claiming 1/7, Aarav Sharma taking 1/14, and Jaxen Durkin capping off a great all-round game with 1/21. It was a superb team effort to secure the points.

John Inverarity Shield (Male Under 13s): Bears Show Great Fight in Season Opener at Hillcrest

v Wanneroo — Wanneroo won by 14 runs

Our John Inverarity Shield side kicked off the season with a hard-fought battle against Wanneroo at Hillcrest Park. Bowling first, the Bears put on a fantastic display to dismiss the visitors for 141. Luke Murdoch led the attack with a brilliant 3/14, well supported by Arjan Singh Randhawa’s 3/24. Jobanveer Singh and Manvik Patel also picked up key wickets. In response, our batters fought bravely but fell just 14 runs short, bowled out for 127. Avitaj Singh Shah top-scored with a resilient 21, while Kevan Wehalla Mudalige Don, Aarvy singh (12 not out), and Harjaap Singh all chipped in with 12 runs. Despite the narrow loss, it was an incredibly promising start to the season from our young players.
