Introducing The Bear Essentials, the club podcast

The Bear Essentials is the official podcast of the Bayswater Morley Districts Cricket Club: stories from the clubrooms. Host David Baird sits down with the players, life members and friends who made the Bears what they are, to talk cricket, club history and life in Perth’s eastern suburbs.

Out now

• Mel O’Neil: 100 not out. Our centenarian life member looks back on 11 years as First Grade captain, 20 years as Secretary and WACA delegate, and keeping the club alive through its toughest years.
• Ryan Campbell: still here. From premierships at Baysie to keeping behind Adam Gilchrist, an accidental international coaching career and surviving a cardiac arrest.
• Bob Massie: Bassendean to Lord’s. The club’s first Test cricketer on filling in as scorer, starting out in fourth grade, and the plan behind his 16 wickets on debut at Lord’s.

Coming up

Gary Ireland, Bruce Reid, Dennis Baker and plenty more club legends are still to come, along with The Miracle Match, a four-part special. A new episode comes out every Tuesday.
